The Extended School Day/School Violence Prevention Grant enables the Hornell City School District to provide programming meant to enrich the lives of its student population, both academically and socially, at no cost to students or their families. This blog will act as a forum for students, teachers and parents to discuss programming and the many ways we can work together to make it as beneficial as possible to Hornell's students.

Teen Book Festival Reading Group
One of the most exciting events New York State has to offer for young readers is the Teen Book Festival, which is held annually in Rochester. Several authors of young adult literature come to meet and speak with students, discuss their craft, and offer up some personalized autographs. Members of the group will be provided with their own copies of books written by the authors participating in the festival, and they we'll meet regularly throughout the school year to discuss those books. The group culminates at the end of the year with a field trip to Rochester to attend the festival and meet their favorite authors!
