The Extended School Day/School Violence Prevention Grant enables the Hornell City School District to provide programming meant to enrich the lives of its student population, both academically and socially, at no cost to students or their families. This blog will act as a forum for students, teachers and parents to discuss programming and the many ways we can work together to make it as beneficial as possible to Hornell's students.

Cooking Matters
Beginning in January of 2014, we are teaming up with the Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) to provide our students with culinary and nutrition education. Cooking Matters, a national initiative which, "teaches participants to shop smarter, use nutrition information to make healthier choices, and cook delicious, affordable meals," will be coming into our schools to educate our students on the importance of making healthy decisions when it comes to their meals. The Hornell Wegmans has been kind enough to support us in this effort; they've provided both food and the services of Nutrition Expert and Chef, Ken Sanford.
