Bryant School S.T.A.R.S. Program - Art Projects

Over the past couple of weeks, our Bryant School S.T.A.R.S. program has been working on some really interesting art projects!  Rick Turner, our art teacher, continues to do an excellent job with the 2nd and 3rd grade art curriculum, and these projects are evidence.

Etchings

Mr. Turner introduced our students to etching with an interesting lesson using watercolor paints and Styrofoam lunch trays.  After learning about perspective and the process of etching, the students used pencil to draw their pictures.  After painting the pictures with watercolor paints, they pressed them onto white paper.  The students' artwork now decorates the halls of Bryant School!

Scribble Art

Most students have only experienced drawing, coloring and painting on white paper, so Mr. Turner wanted to help the students explore other colors they could use for their backgrounds.  Each student was given a black piece of construction paper and a black piece of chalk, on which they were asked to... SCRIBBLE!  After scribbling out a cool design, the kids colored in the gaps between the scribbles, and the results were just asesome!
