Every year our Earth & Sky students look forward to visiting the annual Rochester Gem and Mineral Show, which is hosted by the Rochester Lapidary Society. This year, as years before, was an afternoon filled with fun and educational activities. The Gem Show, put on at The Main Street Armory in Rochester, is one of the biggest Gem Shows in the North East. With so many displays and vendors, our students got the opportunity to see Gems and Minerals they wouldn't get to check out otherwise, making this event one of the highlights of Earth & Sky every year. On the way home from the show, instructor Kelly Jackson took the students to a scenic overlook at Letchworth State Park where they ate lunch and took in the park's natural beauty.
The Extended School Day/School Violence Prevention Grant enables the Hornell City School District to provide programming meant to enrich the lives of its student population, both academically and socially, at no cost to students or their families. This blog will act as a forum for students, teachers and parents to discuss programming and the many ways we can work together to make it as beneficial as possible to Hornell's students.
